On game day set yourself up for success by following these guidelines:
1. Confirm with your partner via text or email day prior: the site, game location, arrival time, and polo color.
2. In the event of inclement weather follow the Inclement Weather Procedure Hyperlink
3. Arrive 30 minutes prior to game time at game site.
4. Personal Emergency on game day contact assigner as early as possible. Unable to get a hold of the Assigner within a reasonable amount of time, contact a board member following the guidelines in this Game Day Help Hyperlink
5. Conduct thorough pre-game, this information may be helpful. Pregame List Hyperlink
6. Either partner running late communicate with each other. Official on site, prepare for game by letting both coaches know of your arrival, walk the field, and when your partner arrives work as a team. Pregame Responsibilities Hyperlink
7. Mic-up is preferred during the game, please use them if available. Radios can be very useful to communicate plays between partners without delaying the game. Also, calls in questioned away from table side by coaches can be explained more efficiently.
8. CIF San Diego County High School Field Hockey game format:
a. Varsity
1. Game will have 15':00" quarters.
2. Halftime will begin after the conclusion of the 2nd quarter and end at the start of the 3rd
quarter (5-10 minutes) as determined during the pre-game conference.
3. One 90 second time-out per game per team.
4. Clock stops on goals unless a team is ahead by 4 goals or more only after the start of the
3rd quarter.
5. Teams tied at the end of regulation proceed with a 10 minute 7v7 sudden victory.
6. Teams tied after 10 minute 7v7 sudden victory proceed with a set of five (5) 1v1 shootouts.
7. Teams tied after 5v5 shootout proceed with 1v1 shootout sudden victory.
(Note): In October, teams promote Breast Cancer Awareness by wearing pink. Home team will wear white unless communicated and agreed with by the opposing team.
b. JV or Freshman
1. Game will have 12':30" quarters.
2. Halftime will begin after the conclusion of the 2nd quarter and end at the start of the 3rd
quarter (normally 5 minutes) as discussed during the pre-game conference.
